v.13
"flying through the midst of heaven" In well equipped Greek theatres there was machinery for suspending actors in the air to make it look as though they were flying. This was possibly to represent supernatural heralds flying to and fro in the heavens or gods descending to the sort out situations on earth. These would appear as if from nowhere via a high level trap door in a roof above the skene. The skene at Ephesus appears to have been three or more stories high. [SEE  THE CITY OF EPHESUS] The grandeur of the architecture and the use of elaborate machinery would contribute to the impression of virtual reality for the audience.

"I behold and hear one angel" A solitary herald a harbinger of woe eerily calling out -

"Woe! Woe! Woe!" THREE IMPENDING WOES
