QUESTION

Is there anything like "age of accountability" in accordance to baptism? Where is it found in the bible?.

ANSWER

There is not stimulated age for accountability in the Bible. Those who want to be baptized are required to believe and repent.

The Lord Jesus said to his apostles "You go into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized  will be saved; but he who disbelieves will be damned". Mark 16:15-16,

In obedience to this command the apostle Peter told convicted believers "Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.   For the promise is to you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call."  Acts 2:37-39

No matter how young or old, intelligent or mentally handicapped a person might be, if he or she is conscious of having sinned, believes that Jesus, the son of God, died for them and has repented of their sins, there is no one who has the right to deny them baptism (immersion in water) for the forgiveness of their sins The only stipulation required of the Ethiopian was that he believed with all his heart to which he responded "I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God" so Philip did not hesitate to baptise him in water.

The angel of the Lord spoke unto Philip, saying, Arise, and go toward the south unto the way that goes down from Jerusalem unto Gaza, which is desert.  And he arose and went: and, behold, a man of Ethiopia, an eunuch of great authority under Candace queen of the Ethiopians, who had the charge of all her treasure, and had come to Jerusalem for to worship,  Was returning, and sitting in his chariot read Isaiah the prophet.  Then the Spirit said unto Philip, Go near, and join thyself to this chariot.  And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Isaiah, and said, Do you understand what you are reading?  And he said, How can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him.  The place of the scripture which he read was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so opened he not his mouth:  In his humiliation his judgment was taken away: and who shall declare his generation? for his life is taken from the earth.  And the eunuch answered Philip, and said, I pray thee, of whom does the prophet say this? of himself, or of some other man?  Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus.  And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? And Philip said, If you believe with all  your heart, you may. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they both went down into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him. And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, so the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing. Acts 8:26-39
