¹And the fifth angel sounds, and I see a star fall from heaven to the earth: and the key of the bottomless pit is given to him. ²And he opens the bottomless pit; and there smoke rises out of the pit, like the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air are darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit. ³And locusts come out of the smoke onto the earth: and to them is given power, like the scorpions of the earth have power. ⁴And they are told that they should not damage the grass of the earth, nor any green thing, nor any tree; but only those men who do not have the seal of God in their foreheads. ⁵And it is given to them that they should not kill them, but that they should be tormented five months: and their torment is like the torment of a scorpion, when he strikes a man. ⁶And in those days men will seek death, and will not find it; and will desire to die, and death will flee from them. ⁷And the shapes of the locusts were like horses prepared for battle; and on their heads were even as crowns like gold, and their faces were as the faces of men. ⁸And they had hair like the hair of women, and their teeth were like lions. ⁹And they had breastplates, even as breastplates of iron; and the sound of their wings sound like chariots, of many horses racing into battle. ¹⁰And they have tails like scorpions, and there were stings in their tails: and their power is to hurt men for five months. ¹¹And they have a king over them - the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in the Hebrew is Abaddon, but in the Greek he has the name Apollyon.
