CHAPTER 2

BACK

NOTE: words with the subscipt 1 are singular, e.g. "you1" refers to one person.

2:1To the angel of the church of Ephesus write; These things says he who holds the seven stars in his right hand, who walks in the midst of the seven golden lamp stands; 2I know your1 works, and your1  labour, and your1 perseverance [upomonh], and how you1 cannot bear those who are evil: and you1 have tried those who say they are apostles, and are not, and have found them liars: 3And have borne, and have persevered, and for my name's sake have labored, and have not fainted. 4Nevertheless I have somewhat against you1, because you1 abandon your1 foremost love. 5Remember therefore from where you1 are fallen, and repent, and do the foremost works; or else I will come to you1 suddenly, and will remove your1 lamp stand out of its place, except you1 repent. 6But this you1 have, that you1 hate the deeds of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate. 7He who has an ear, must hear what the Spirit is saying to the churches: I will give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God, to him who is overcoming.

2:8And to the angel of the church in Smyrna write; These things says the first and the last, who was dead, and is alive; 9I know your1 works, and trouble, and poverty, (but you1 are rich) and I know the blasphemy of those who say they are Jews, and are not, but are the synagogue of Satan. 10Fear none of those things which you1 will suffer: behold, the devil will cast some of you into prison, so that you may be tried; and you shall have trouble ten days: be1 faithful to death, and I will give you1 a crown of life. 11He who has an ear, must hear what the Spirit is saying to the churches: he who is overcoming will not be hurt by the second death.

2:12And to the angel of the church in Pergamum write; These things says he who has the sharp sword with two edges; 13I know your1 works, and where you1 dwell, even where Satan's throne is: and you1 hold fast my name, and have not denied my faith, even in those days in which Antipas was my faithful martyr, who was killed among you, where Satan dwells. 14But I have a few things against you1, because you1 have there those who hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balak to cast a stumblingblock before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed to idols, and to commit fornication. 15So you1 also have those who hold the doctrine of the Nicolaitans, which thing I hate. 16Repent; or else I will come to you1 quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth. 17He who has an ear, must hear what the Spirit is saying to the churches: I will give to him who is overcoming to eat from the hidden manna, and will give him a white pebble, and a new name is written on the stone, which no one knows except he who is receiving it.

2:18And to the angel of the church in Thyatira write; These things says the Son of God, who has his eyes like to a flame of fire, and his feet are like fine brass; 19I know your1 works, and love, and service, and faith, and your1 patience, and your1 works; and the last is more than the first. 20But I have a few things against you1, because you1 allow that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed to idols. 21And I gave her space to repent of her fornication; and she did not repent. 22Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and those who commit adultery with her into great trouble, except they repent of their deeds. 23And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he who searches the reins and hearts: and I will give to every one of you according to your works. 24But I say to you, and to the rest in Thyatira, as many as do not have this doctrine, and who have not known the depths of Satan, as they speak; I will put on you no other burden. 25But that which you have already, hold fast till I come. 26And he who is overcoming and is keeping my works to the end, I will give him authority over the nations: 27And he will rule them with a rod of iron; they shall be broken to shivers as the vessels of a potter: even as I received of my Father. 28And I will give him the morning star. 29He who has an ear, must hear what the Spirit is saying to the churches.

REVELATION CHAPTER 3

BACK

3:1And to the angel of the church in Sardis write; These things says he who has the seven Spirits of God, and the seven stars; I know your1 works, that you1 have a name that you1 live, but are1 dead. 2Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die: for I have not found your1 works perfect before God. 3Remember therefore how you1 have received and heard1, and hold fast1, and repent1. If therefore you1 will not watch, I will come on you1 as a thief, and you1 will  not know what hour I will come on you1. 4You1 have a few names even in Sardis who have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with me in white: for they are worthy. 5he who is overcoming this one will be clothed in white garments and I will definitely not blot his name out of the book of life, but I will announce his name before my Father, and before his angels.6He who has an ear, must hear what the Spirit is saying to the churches.

3:7And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write; These things says he who is holy, he who is true, he who has the key of David, he who opens, and no man shuts; and shuts, and no man opens; 8I know your1 works: behold, I have set before you1 an open door, and no man can shut it: for you1 have a little strength, and have kept 1my word, and have not denied1 my name. 9Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, who say they are Jews, and are not, but lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before your 1feet, and to know that I have loved you1. 10Because you1 have kept the word of my patience, I also will keep you11 from the hour of temptation, which shall come on all the world, to try those who dwell on the earth. 11Behold, I come suddenly: hold fast1 what you1 have, so that no man takes your1 crown.  12He who is overcoming I will make a pillar in my God's temple (naoV), and he would never ever go out: and I will write my God's name on him and the name of my God's city (the new Jerusalem, which is coming down out of heaven from my God) and my new name.13He who has an ear, must hear what the Spirit is saying to the churches.

3:14And to the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things says the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God; 15I know your1 works, that you1 are neither cold nor hot: I would you1 were cold or hot. 16So then because you1 are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue you1 out of my mouth. 17Because you1 say, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and you1 do not know that you1 are wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked: 18I counsel you1 to buy gold tried in the fire from me, so that you1 may be rich; and white clothing, so that you1 might be clothed, and so that the shame of your1 nakedness does not appear; and anoint1 your1 eyes with eye salve, so that you1 may see. 19As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent. 20Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hears my voice, and opens the door, I will come in to him, and will dine with him, and he with me. 21To him who is overcoming I will grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and sit with my Father in his throne. 22He who has an ear, must hear what the Spirit is saying to the churches.
