THE ONE REASON WHY THE UNIVERSE EXISTS

The Created the whole universe and everything in it.

The Creation was a one-off event.

God did the lot, the whole universe, the whole creation, all of it, within six days.

So we must not doubt it, or try to bend it to suit current scientific psychological theories like "evolution."

The creation of the whole universe and the heavens and all that is in them, including the angels, was a one-off event.

The angels rejoiced when the creation was completed. They were created before the earth.

^{Job 38:4} Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if you have understanding. ⁵Who has laid the measures of it. if you know? or who has stretched the line on it? ⁶Where are the foundations of it fastened? or who laid its corner stone, ⁷When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?

So the angels were created before the earth was created.

They were created on the first day when the heavens were created.

The creation of the universe was called "the beginning"

^{Mark 10:6} ... God made them male and female from the beginning of the creation.

^{Hebrews 1:10} And, You, Lord, in the beginning have laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the works of your hands.

^{Ephesians 3:9} And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world has been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ:

God had a specific reason for creating the universe.

^{Revelation 4:11} O Lord ...you created everything, and they exist and were created by your will*.
[* The KJV wrongly translates this word (qelhma) by "pleasure." In every other place the KJV correctly translates it by "will.".]

The angels were created as part of God's reason.

^{Psalm 104:4} Who makes his angels spirits; his ministers a flaming fire

^Hebrews1:7 And of the angels he said, Who makes his angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire.

^{Hebrews 1:14} Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who will be heirs of salvation?

So the angels were made to serve God's faithful children.

This singular reason is specifically to do with the God's dear Son - The Lord Jesus -

^{Colossians 1:16} For by him [i.e. God's dear Son. v.13] were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they are thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: ¹⁷And he is before all things, and by him all things consist [i.e. subsists].

So they were created by His Son and for His Son.

God's reason had this reason even before He created the world.

It was all God's one-off purpose before He laid the foundation of the world.

^{1 Peter 1:19} But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: ²⁰Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you,

^{John 17:24"}Father, I will that they also, whom you have given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which you have given me: for you loved me before the foundation of the world."

This is mind boggling. What a privilege! What a responsibility!

The original one-off assured hope for the faithful:

^{Matthew 25:34}Then the King will say to those on his right hand "Come, you, my Father's blest, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: ³⁵ For I was ...

This one-off purpose of God is why the universe exists and why we are here.

Have you ever noticed how many times the phrase "before/from the foundation of the world" is used in the New Testament? The plan of salvation was not God having second thoughts after things went wrong with Adam. It was God's purpose from before He created anything and the one-off reason why He created everything.

^{Acts 15:18} All God's works are known by Him from eternity.

God has a reason for the universe's continued existence.

All creation subsists [i.e. holds together] in the Lord Jesus.

^{Colossians 1:16} For by him [i.e. God's dear Son. v.13] were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they are thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: ¹⁷And he is before all things, and by him all things consist [i.e. subsists].

He continually holds all creation together.

^{Revelation 4:11} O Lord ...you created everything, and they exist ... by your will*.

But that will not always be the case.

When He decides enough is enough and that it has fulfilled its purpose He will terminate it.

^{2 Peter 3:9-10} The Lord is not being slack about his promise, like some consider slackness; but is longsuffering towards us, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in which the heavens will pass away, with a great noise, and the elements will melt, with fervent heat. The earth also and the works that are in it will be burned up.

¹¹Seeing then that all these things will be dissolved, what kind of people should you be in holy manner of life and devotion to god, ¹²Looking for and hurrying to the coming of the day of God, in which the heavens being on fire will be dissolved, and the elements will melt with fervent heat? ¹³But we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, in which righteousness dwells. ¹⁴Therefore, beloved, seeing that you look for such things, be diligent that you may be found of him in peace, without blemish, and blameless. ¹⁵And consider how our Lord's longsuffering is salvation;

He who testifies these things said: "Surely, I come suddenly".
Amen.
Even so, come, Lord Jesus.
